Newcastle MarketsVisitors to Newcastle will be able to spend their money at a large and impressive selection of markets, both covered and outdoors. For local produce, the Farmers' Market takes place each month on the first Friday and proudly boasts that all of its produce (meat, cheese, jams, chutneys and more) originates from within a 50-mile / 80-km radius of Newcastle city. Each Sunday, the Quayside Market fills with local traders, coming here to sell everything from handmade jewellery and paintings, to other crafts, plants, flowers and confectionary. Many historic buildings and Victorian warehouses are to be found around the Quayside area and nearby, such as the English-Heritage Bessie Surtees' House, St. Nicholas Cathedral and the Guildhall - now home to a convenient tourist office.

Each year in late November and early December, Newcastle now plays host to a popular Continental Market, which is based along Grey Street, Grainger Street and around the Grey's Monument.
